Coastweek -- Newly formed Coast Sports Society which is the brainchild of Sibtain Kassamali, Elizabeth Akumu, and Bapa Juma Abbas organised a Cricket Tour for the Veteran Cricketers to Dar e salaam on 28th March 2014 to play cricket matches against Union Sports Club and Dar e Salaam Veterans, reports ALIHUSEIN NAMAJEE. Coast Sports Society team included veteran Kenya players Tom Tikolo, Steve Tikolo, David Tikolo, Shahid Bwibo, Rajabali, Abass Akram, Captain Sibtain Kassamali, Alihusein Namajee, Piyush Sawjani, Zuheir Ladak, Bapa Juma and Munir Merali. In the first match played against the Union Sports Club the Coast team batted first and scored 196 runs for 6 wickets with David Tikolo top scoring with a brilliant 76 runs and Steve Tikolo 66 runs both unbeaten the rest of the batsman also making good contributions. For Union bowlers Zamayoni took 1 for 35, Zameen Murji 2 for 40 and Mohamed Rahim 1 for 45. In reply Union Sports were all out for 96 runs. Coast Sports Society bowlers Akram Abass took 2 for 30 runs, Sibtain 2 for 4 and Munir Merali 2 for 10. The second match against the Daresalaam Veterans prov-ed to be a much tougher game. Coast Sports Society batted first but lost Piyush Sawjani’s wicket in the 2nd over but Tom Tikolo and Alihusein Namajee steadied the innings with a 40 run partnership and David Tikolo once again scoring a good 45 not out and Sibtain Kassamali 18 not out to reach a total score of 155 for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Ratish Kamania took 3 for 36 and Subash Rathod taking 2 for 24. Once again it was the Coast bowlers who bowled out the entire Dar team for just 70 runs with only Kulbir Gupta 10 runs, Ratish Kamania 13 runs and Raza Imam 18 runs. Wicket takers for Coast were Steve Tikolo 1 for 2, Zuheir Ladak 1 for 8, Bapa Juma 2 for 20 and Piyush Sawjani 1 for 8. Rajabali also bowled very well but was unlucky not to get any wickets. The veterans proved that they are still a force to reckon. The tour was a great success and a thoroughly enjoyable one.
